Chennai: All government and private high and secondary schools in Chennai district will function as usual on Saturday, December 6, the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) announced today. The decision has been made to compensate for the academic time lost due to three consecutive holidays earlier this week, mandated by heavy rainfall from Cyclone 'Ditwah'.

The cyclone, which formed in the Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka, first caused severe flooding and significant loss of life in Sri Lanka before tracking along the Tamil Nadu coast. It brought intense rainfall to northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and the Delta districts being particularly affected.
