Hyderabad: Four students were tragically killed and one was critically injured in a road accident in Mokila, Rangareddy district in the early hours of Thursday, January 8.
The accident occurred near Mirzaguda Gate, Chevella, when a sports car traveling at a high speed lost control, hit a road divider and crashed into a tree.
The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of four occupants of the vehicle. One student is in critical condition and was rushed to a hospital for treatment in Hyderabad.
The police said all five of them were students at ICFAI University (IBS). They have been identified as Surya Teja, a second-year BBA student, Sumit and Sri Nikhil; third-year BBA students and Rohith, a student at MGIT. The injured student identified as Nakshatra, is a third-year BBA student.
Students take part in birthday celebrations:
According to reports, five of them were a part of Sumit’s birthday celebrations on Wednesday and dropped one of their friends Akash at home in Mokila, after the celebration. The accident took place when they were returning to Kokapet, just 2 km away from Mokila Police Station.
The bodies were shifted to Chevella Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and investigation is underway. Police suspect over speeding to be the main cause of the crash.
