Hyderabad: The intense cold wave has continued in Telangana for nearly two weeks as temperatures continued to be in single digits in many districts. Kohir in Sangareddy recorded 5°C on Sunday.
Temperatures below 10.1°C were recorded in 15 districts, as per Telangana Development Planning Society data. On December 22, Sangareddy recorded 6.8°C while Asifabad recorded 7°C and Adilabad stood at 8.3°C.
In the GHMC areas, Serilingampally recorded 10°C while Moulali recorded 10.6°C, Rajendranagar stood at 11°C, Sivrampalle 11.3°C, Gachibowli 11.5°C.
In Hyderabad, fog, misty conditions will prevail during the morning hours and minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2°C to 3°C over the next two days. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C and 13°C respectively.
Winter Solstice:
Sunday, December 21, marked ‘Winter Solstice’, which made it the shortest day and longest night of the year. Sunrise occurred at 6.45 AM while sunset was observed at 5.43 PM. Next Solstice is said to be on June 21, 2026, which will be the longest day and shortest night of the year.
Cold wave alert from IMD:
The India Meteorological Department said in its forecast that cold wave will likely prevail in some places in Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy districts over December 22, 23.
