New Delhi: A disturbing video has surfaced on social media, showing a woman sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut allegedly abusing and threatening car driver in the middle of heavy traffic. The video has triggered widespread outrage online, with users demanding strict action against the officer.

The incident reportedly took place near Abu Lane around 7 pm on a busy evening. The sub-inspector, identified as Ratna Rathi, arrived at the spot in her Hyundai i20 and got stuck in a traffic jam. Allegedly unable to control her anger, she stepped out of her car and got into an argument with the occupants of a nearby vehicle. The officer was seen verbally abusing the occupants.

How did the matter escalate?

The viral video shows the woman officer getting out of her vehicle and abusing the occupants of a nearby car. When the woman in the car attempted to intervene, Rathi allegedly chastised her using offensive language. Following this, the man stepped out of the vehicle, after which Rathi reportedly got into a physical scuffle with him.

The video also captures the officer threatening the man, claiming she would thrash him with a belt. She later made an obscene remark, saying, "Daroga hoon main, muh pe m**t dunga” (translated as, "I am a cop, I’ll pee on your face”). When bystanders attempted to intervene, she was seen arguing with them as well.

No complaint registered yet

Meerut SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, in a statement, confirmed that the woman officer has been identified. He said Ratna Rathi is posted at Mahua police station in Aligarh and was returning from Saharanpur after appearing in court to record a statement. She had reportedly stopped at Bombay Bazar to attend to some pending work.

Police officials said that no formal complaint has been received so far, and further action would depend on the filing of a written complaint and a departmental review.
