Around 100 students fall ill after suspected food poisoning at railway training institute in Maharashtra's Bhusawal

New Delhi: In a suspected case of food poisoning, around 70-100 students fell ill at the Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI) in Bhusawal town of Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on Sunday.

The incident came to light after students complained of sudden illness following dinner on Saturday night or breakfast on Sunday morning. Several trainees reportedly developed symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain.

Food samples sent for testing

Following the incident, railway authorities and the health department swung into action. Officials said food samples have been collected for testing and an inquiry into the matter has been ordered.

The condition of all affected students is being closely monitored. Railway authorities said strict action would be taken against those found responsible and steps would be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
