New Delhi: A video capturing a drunk army personnel driving his car onto the platform of Meerut Cantt Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh has caught the netizens' attention. The accused identified as Sandeep Dhaka, is subsequently arrested, and his vehicle was seized by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

The accused was reportedly intoxicated, while driving his car. Following the incident, his driving license has been seized too and a report has been submitted to cancel it.

Although the exact date of the incident is yet to be confirmed, the video went viral on social media on Saturday night. The video captures a man recklessly driving onto the Platform 1 of the Meerut Cant Railway Station and was about to crash into a train passing through the platform. As per the viral video, the car has a Jharkhand registration plate, has damaged some of the benches and barricades at the platform.

During interrogation, Dhaka alleged that he was trying to help his relatives who had to reach Delhi urgently for a medical emergency, according to a report in Hindustan Times. Upon testing, it was confirmed that Dhaka was under the influence of alcohol.

The netizens had mixed reactions to the incident. A user commented, "He really tried Uber direct to train seat," while another sarcastically remarked, "Good job driver….Direct pickup from train." These responses underscore the public’s disbelief at the unusual turn of events.

Accused taken to custody

Following the incident, a case has also been registered against Dhaka under Sections 145(B)/ 147/ 154/ 159 of the Railway Act and Section 34 of the Police Act. Sharing a post on X, the GRP Superintendent of Police (Moradabad) said, "In connection with the aforementioned case, the GRP and RPF Meerut City have taken the said youth into police custody, registered a case, and are proceeding with further legal action as per the rules."

The police are carrying out further investigations to uncover the nuances of the incident.
