New Delhi: United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will visit India today on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a visit. This will be his third visit to India since taking over as President of the country.

Visit to chart new frontiers for a comprehensive strategic partnership

Announcing his visit on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "India and the UAE share warm, close, and multi-faceted relations, underpinned by strong political, cultural, and economic ties. "The visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to chart new frontiers for the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership."

It added, "The visit builds on the strong momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges, including the visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in September 2024, and the visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy PM and Minister of Defence of the UAE, in April 2025."

Visit among rising tensions in Middle-East

Importantly, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit is being held amid tensions in the Middle East amid protests in Iran and escalation of a major war in the region, which are likely to be discussed between the UAE President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Major growth in bilateral ties

In recent times, there has been a major growth in bilateral trade between the two countries. The upswing was noticed after an ambitious comprehensive economic partnership agreement was signed in 2022. The visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2024 had further generated strong ties between India and the UAE.

Notably, the bilateral trade reached new heights last year, with non-oil trade reaching nearly $37.6 billion in the first half of the year. With the growth of a 34% year-on-year, the non-oil trade helped in putting two nations on the path to reach the ambitious targets of $100 billion by 2030.
