New Delhi: A government doctor from Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district has been suspended after allegedly making objectionable remarks against the state government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a recent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protest at Birsinghpur Hospital.

According to the suspension order, the doctor, identified as Dr Prasad, violated Rule 3 of the Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1956, which requires public servants to maintain loyalty and integrity toward the state and its leadership. The order stated that his comments were “highly inappropriate and objectionable,” and his behaviour was “unbecoming of a government employee.”

How happened in the protest

The controversy began after a video clip from the AAP demonstration went viral on social media. The protest, organised to highlight alleged negligence and poor conditions at the hospital, featured Dr. Prasad speaking with demonstrators, during which he allegedly made critical remarks about the Chief Minister and the government.

Following the social media outrage, BJP Mandal president Shobhnath Yadav lodged a complaint at the Jaisinghpur police station, prompting the registration of an FIR against the doctor.

AAP's objective

The AAP’s two-day sit-in protest aimed to draw attention to what participants described as the deplorable state of Birsinghpur Hospital, citing medicine shortages, staff apathy, and inadequate facilities. Locals have long complained about poor healthcare services at the hospital, which serves several surrounding villages.
