New Delhi: Two men on Thursday dressed as delivery agents robbed a jewellery shop in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The unknown assailants were dressed up in Swiggy and Blinkit uniforms along with helmets to hide their identities. 

The incident took place at around 3:30 pm on Thursday, when the shop owner, identified as Krishna Kumar Verma, as everyday, went out for lunch. Only an employee named Shubham was present at the time of robbery.

Robbed and fled in moments

According to the viral CCTV footage, the two men came to the shop, riding on a motorcycle. They forcefully entered the shop and started to open fire inside it. The robbers then grabbed the jewelleries from the display cases and packed it in their backpacks, TOI reported. Then, one of them was seen throwing a chair on the other side of the counter to grab more items.

They then placed the gun at Shubham, and forced him to unlock the storage units. The duo robbed 125 kg of gold, 20 kg of silver and Rs 30,000 cash from the Brij Vihar shop. They then fled on their motorcycle. Shubham immediately informed the owner after 10-15 minutes, the police arrived at the scene.

Police suspect internal involvement

The entire incident took place in a matter of 6 minutes between 3:30 and 3:36, TOI quoted the Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) Shweta Yadav as saying. A thorough investigation is carried out throughout the area to get hold of the culprits as soon as possible. Police are also enquiring into the alleged involvement of the employee, Shubham, who was present at the store when the robbery took place.

An official FIR has been registered in the nearby police station, consequently.
