New Delhi: The affiliation of GD Goenka High School, Sohna, Gurugram, has been suspended by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for one year for the academic session 2026-27. The action was taken by the CBSE after it found serious violations of affiliation norms, particularly related to campus safety and the sharing of infrastructure.
As per the CBSE order, the inspection detected that the school was sharing its premises and infrastructure with two other institutions without clear demarcated area or a pucca boundary wall. It also pointed out that several institutions were operating from the same building on all floors, with a university programme being carried out on the top floor.
The CBSE suspended the school's affiliation, stating that a school campus sharing the premises with other entities without adequate physical segregation or a boundary wall exposes students to potential risks.
These risks include bullying, harassment, or unwarranted interaction with students from nearby higher education institutions. CBSE underlined that a school must maintain a fully secured campus that is not accessible to outsiders.
In its official order, the CBSE said: "These institutes are functioning in the same building on all floors besides the classes of one program of University on top floor of the same building. A school campus that is shared with other entities or institutions, without a proper boundary wall or adequate physical segregation, exposes students to potential risks, including the possibility of bullying, harassment or unwarranted interaction with students from nearby higher-education institutions whereas it is imperative that the school maintains a campus that is fully secured and not accessible to outsiders."
The Board added that every school has an obligation to take all necessary corrective steps to ensure the safety and security of students. It noted that the school was not in a position to segregate the institutions into separate campuses within a short period.
Issuing the order, the CBSE sounded stern warning to other schools committing similar violations, as it indicated zero tolerance towards any compromise on student safety and infrastructure norms.
In view of the confirmed violations of the Board’s Affiliation Bye-Laws, and taking into account the school’s efforts to rectify the shortcomings pointed out during the inspection, the Competent Authority has directed that the affiliation of the school stands suspended for one year (2026-27 session) to enable the institution to separate its infrastructure from other institutions and ensure a safe learning environment.
The direction also said that the school shall not admit students in Class 9 and Class 11 during the suspension period.
Students currently enrolled in Classes 9 to 12 are permitted to continue their education in the same school. The school has been instructed to ensure the full safety of students and to strictly adhere to CBSE norms and the Affiliation Bye-Laws.
The CBSE has also directed the school to disengage all other institutions from its premises and correct the faults so that the building and playground are exclusively used by G D Goenka High School students. It must be ensured that there is separate entry and exit points from the main road.
Besides, the school has been asked to properly demarcate its land by building a six-foot-high concrete boundary wall around the entire campus. The school’s infrastructure or human resources should not be shared with any other institution, the CBSE directed.
