New Delhi: A woman faced backlash on social media after she criticised Gen Zs on social media. Narrating her experience working with Gen Zs, the woman stated that they were not ready to struggle. She also added that the work ethic gap between generations were widening.
The woman, identified as Ayushi Doshi, stated, "Met a Gen Z guy recently who had just landed a job at tier 1 company. Within no time, he started demanding extra pay for every additional hour, and when he didn't get it, he walked out." Further, she opined that Gen Zs wants everything quickly.
"This is the mindset now! No willingness to struggle, no commitment to putting in the hours, no patience to prove themselves. Just quick money, quick increments, and zero accountability. The work ethic gap between generations is becoming too real," wrote the woman.
The post failed to impress people. Many were annoyed at the woman's outlook. They asked her why Gen Zs should behave differently. Moreover, they lauded the young generation for setting clear boundaries and taking a stand for themselves.
"No willingness to struggle??? Struggle unfairly? Why? Its not worth it. If a company is unfairly treating you why treat it fairly, this is not the era of slavery," said one. Another person opined that Gen Zs are changing the unfair expectations set by the older generations.
A user commented, "It's good that they prioritize a healthy work-life balance, and assert their rights as an empowered employee. Gen Z believes in working smarter, not harder."
