Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy retain top spots in ICC T20I rankings

New Delhi: Team India's Hardik Pandya, spinner Varun Chakravarthy and opener Abhishek Sharma retained their respective top spots in the ICC T20 rankings, which was released on Wednesday, September 24.

Chakravarthy became the no. 1-ranked bowler last week, and has strengthened his position with a 14-point gain, taking him to 747 rating points.

After an 11-spot jump last week, Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed has made another massive leap, this time by 12 spots. Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is back in the top 10 positions with a six-place jump after a temporary dip in form.

He picked up six wickets at an average of eight in his last two matches in the 2025 Asia Cup. Hardik Pandya continues to lead the all-rounder's list and has gained points in bowling, while Pakistan's Saim Ayub is in fifth position.

Abhishek retains his top spot, Tilak moves to no.3

Team India opener Abhishek Sharma has also made rating points gains and retained his spot as the No. 1-ranked T20I batter. He smashed a quick-fire 38 during India's last group stage clash against Oman, before hitting a match-winning 74 runs to chase down Pakistan’s total of 171 on Sunday.

Tilak Varma finished the run-chase against Pakistan with an unbeaten 30 off 19, and moved up to the No.3 position. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also gained a place to move close to the top five.

Sahibzada Farhan, who smashed 58 runs off 45 balls to get Pakistan going in the same game, jumped 31 spots to reach 24th position. Hussain Talat played a crucial role in Pakistan's victory against Sri Lanka, with an unbeaten 32 runs off 30 balls, and also jumped to 234th place in the men's T20I batter rankings.

Another massive gainer in the T20I rankings was Saif Hassan, who scored 61 runs and helped Bangladesh get to a winning start in Super Four stage at the Asia Cup. The batter gained 133 places to reach the 81st ranking in the batting charts.
