New Delhi: South Africa's senior batter David Miller has been declared medically fit to play in the T20 World Cup 2026 after getting injured during the SA20. He suffered a groin injury and missed the Paarl Royals' last two matches. The middle-order batter was rested from the ongoing three-match T20I series against West Indies, but will depart with the rest of the squad to play in his sixth T20 World Cup.

Miller is the most experienced player of South Africa's squad and a crucial batter in the middle order. He is most likely to play the role of finisher, batting after Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brevis. Jason Smith and Tristan Stubbs are the other two specialist batters in the Proteas squad.

Miller is only on a white-ball contract with Cricket South Africa and might be aiming to play the home ODI World Cup in 2027. He delivered crucial performances for South Africa in the 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, smashing a century in the semi-final against Australia in Kolkata in 2023.

He almost took South Africa to their maiden T20 World Cup title in Barbados in 2024, but was caught on the boundary with 16 runs required in the last over as the Proteas men suffered a seven-run defeat against India.
