The 27th edition of the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) Awards took place in Mumbai on October 7, Tuesday.
New Delhi: The 27th edition of the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) Awards was held in Mumbai on Tuesday, honouring cricketers and sports leaders from around the world. Former India captain Rohit Sharma grabbed the spotlight with a special award for leading the Indian team to the Champions Trophy glory earlier this year.
This was India's second consecutive ICC trophy under his captaincy, having earlier led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados. Rohit received the award from India's legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar.
Rohit was the centre of attention at the annual awards, marking his first public appearance after being removed as India’s ODI captain. The decision was officially announced in a press conference by the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar. He was replaced by Shubman Gill as the new leader. Rohit's first assignment will be the three-match ODI series in Australia, starting October 19.
He has been selected in the squad, along with Virat Kohli, as the ODI series marks their return to international cricket for the first time since winning the Champions Trophy in Dubai in March 2025.
Sanju Samson was named the Men's T20I Batter Of The Year, surpassing the Asia Cup 2025 top performers like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma, while Varun Chakaravarthy was announced the Men's T20I Bowler Of The Year.
In the women's category, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma won the top honours. But neither were present at the event as the Indian team is currently competing in the Women’s World Cup 2025 at home.
