From Tendulkar to Kohli, cricket stars take hats off to Indian womens team after historic WC win vs Australia
Cricket fraternity hailed India's remarkable win in the Women's World Cup semifinal, which ended Australia's 15-match unbeaten run in the competition across two editions.
The Indian cricket fraternity bowed down to the women's cricket team after the historic win against seven-time champions Australia in the World Cup semifinal at Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led Women In Blue etched their name in history books by chasing a world record total against the most dominant side in women's cricket to reach their third final.
The landmark win also ended Australia's winning run at the World Cups as they suffered their first defeat in 16 ODI World Cup matches. Chasing a record 339 to win, India rode on an unbeaten 127 from Rodrigues and an 89 from Harmanpreet to cross the line with nine balls to spare.
In what promises to be a blockbuster Sunday, India will now meet South Africa in the final, which will not feature either Australia or England for the first time in the tournament's history.
After losing both the openers inside 10 overs, India were rescued by a 167-run stand for the third wicket between Jemimah and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (89 off 88 balls, 10x4s, 2x6s).
India's win was celebrated by millions across the globe. Sachin Tendulkar led the sporting fraternity in applauding the women's team's win over the mighty Aussies.

Former India coach and legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble hailed Rodrigues' knock.
"A terrific win for India against Australia @JemiRodrigues was simply outstanding - 127* filled with elegance, patience and power. A knock that defines maturity and confidence," he posted on 'X'.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was all praise for the team's determination and conviction, especially Rodrigues and Harmanpreet's stunning knocks.
"There are wins that go beyond numbers on a scoreboard. This was one of them.
Under pressure, with the world watching @ImHarmanpreet played with the calm and conviction of a true leader while @JemiRodrigues brought pure focus and intent to play an innings of a lifetime!," Yuvraj wrote on 'X'.
"This partnership came from belief in their own game, in each other, and in what this team stands for. A historic semi final to win and on to the finals now!" India will take on South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
Former India left-arm fast bowler Irfan Pathan praised the team's composure.
"Such a pleasure watching this chase by @BCCIWomen with calmness & composure. Just too good from Jemimah Rodrigues & Harmanpreet Kaur. That cameo from Richa ghosh was crucial," he posted.
Superstar batter Virat Kohli, known as the chase master, was blown away by the team's remarkable performance.
