IND vs SA 2nd ODI: Team Indias record at Raipur
Ahead of the second ODI between India and South Africa, let's take a look at the Men In Blue's record at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
New Delhi: After registering a nervy yet important win in the opening ODI against South Africa, Team India will look to seal the series in the second ODI at Raipur on Wednesday, December 03.
Despite setting a 350-run target, India crossed over the line in rather uncomfortable fashion as South Africa's lower-order kept their team in the hunt till the end. However, the mammoth target proved too big for the Proteas, who fell just 16 runs short of India's total.
Virat Kohli (135) and Kuldeep Yadav (4/68) were the orchestrators of the Men In Blue's win in Ranchi, and with a chance of wrapping up the series with a game to spare, India's matchwinners will be eager to continue their fine form at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Chhattisgarh's capital.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium last hosted an international match two years ago in 2023 when India hosted New Zealand in an ODI match.
Matches at this venue have been few and far between, making the second ODI between the two cricketing giants largely unpredictable.
India's record at Raipur ahead of 2nd ODI vs SA
With Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium coming in the category of overlooked venues due to the high competition among the stadiums in the country, it's no surprise that India have played only a single ODI game at the venue. The Men In Blue's only 50-over fixture at the venue was held two years ago against the Kiwis, who were demolished by the hosts in a one-sided match.
Mohammed Shami-led Indian bowling attack bundled the visitors out for a paltry 108 in 34.3 overs. In reply, India chased down the target in 20 overs with 8 wickets to spare. Rohit Sharma top-scored with 51 while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40. Virat Kohli also batted, but was dismissed for just 11 runs as Gill and Ishan Kishan took India home with 30 overs to spare.
The only other international match played at this venue is a T20I fixture between India and Australia in December 2023
India won by 20 runs, which means that the Men In Blue are unbeaten at the venue. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 37 and 32, respectively, while Axar Patel shone with the ball with a three-wicket haul.
