He needs 53 runs to become the highest run-scorer for India in a single Test series. Currently, Sunil Gavaskar holds the record of scoring the most runs in a Test series. He amassed 774 runs at an average of 154.80 against the West Indies in 1971.

He also needs 53 runs to score the most runs by a No.4 batter in a Test series. The current record is held by Australian batter Steve Smith, who scored 774 runs in four Test matches during the 2019 Ashes series against England, including three hundreds and three half-centuries.

Gill needs 83 runs to break the record of most runs by a captain in a Test series. Don Bradman currently holds this record, scoring 810 runs in five matches against England with the help of three centuries and one fifty in 1936-37.

The Indian captain is just one hundred away from equalling the record for most centuries in a single Test series. The West Indian batter Clyde Walcott has notched up five hundreds in a Test series against Australia in 1955.

Gill needs just one century to become the captain with the most hundreds in a Test series. He is currently levelled on four tons with Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar.
