New Delhi: South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the T20I series against England, Cricket South Africa confirmed on Wednesday (September 10). He suffered a hamstring injury during a training session at Sophia Gardens on Tuesday, and his injury was confirmed after the scans.

Ngidi will now return home on Thursday, with Nandre Burger replacing him in the squad. Burger was a part of the ODI squad that won the series 2-1 against England, but he will now join the T20I setup only ahead of the second game in Manchester.

The first game of the series is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, with South Africa completing their tour with the last T20I on Sunday, September 14, at Trent Bridge.

Earlier, South African batter David Miller was ruled out of the T20I series. The 36-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during the last week of The Hundred while playing for the Northern Superchargers. Cricket South Africa (CSA) didn't announce any replacement for the batter.

He also missed the One-Day Internationals series, but captain Temba Bavuma confirmed that Miller remained in the Proteas’ plans for the 2027 World Cup. "He has been unable to recover in time for the T20I series, which gets underway at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday," the board said in a statement on social media.

Miller is yet to make an appearance for the Proteas in international cricket since the 2025 Champions Trophy. He also missed South Africa's white-ball tour to Australia last month due to his stint in the Hundred.
