Smriti Mandhana slips to second spot, England star takes the No.1 spot in Womens ODI rankings

New Delhi: England's captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the latest ICC Women's ODI rankings, released on Tuesday, pushing India's Smriti Mandhana down to second place and taking back the position she once held.

Despite losing the series by 1-2 at home Sciver-Brunt managed to take the top position which she previously held back in 2023. The 32-year-old all-rounder had a strong individual performance throughout the three-match series as she amassed 160 runs at an average of 53.33. Her standout effort was a composed 98-run knock where she narrowly missed out on a century. While her team fell short in the series, her consistency with the bat ensured she returned to the summit.

Mandhana, who had held the top spot before the latest update, also had a spectacular outing in the series but couldn't match Sciver-Brunt's performance. She could only manage to score 115 runs, failing to register even a single half century which got her two points behind the England skipper. As a result, she moved to second place with 728 rating points while Brunt has 731 points.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had a big jump of 10 points from 21st rank to 11th with 732 rating points. She had a spectacular time in England as she scored a record-breaking century in the third match and series decider performance in Durham. The 36-year-old scored a 102 runs knock in 84 balls. 

In the middle order all-rounder Jemimah Rodrigues has moved two spots and now sits on the 13th place in the rankings.

In the bowling department, India spinner Deepti Sharma remained India's highest-ranked bowler as she retained fourth spot. She is just behind England's Sophie Ecclestone and Australian pair Ash Gardner and Megan Schutt. No other Indian bowler made it to the top 10 with Sneha Rana being the second best at 21st position.
