New Delhi: Australia defeated England by five wickets in the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, January 8. The Aussies won the five-match series by 4-1. Earlier in the series, the hosts won in Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide, before the Three Lions bounced back and registered a memorable win in Melbourne.

England could only add 40 runs to their overnight score to set a 160-run target for the hosts. Travis Head and Jake Weatherald added 62 runs for the opening wicket before a steady 40-run stand between Carey and Green took them over the line despite a nervy ending.
