New Delhi: Australia defeated India by 7 wickets in the first ODI to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Hazlewood and Starc delivered a brilliant performance after the hosts opted to bowl first at Perth Stadium. Hazlewood removed Rohit Sharma for 8 runs, while Starc dismissed Kohli for a duck. Skipper Gill was strangled down leg as the Men in Blue lost their top three just inside nine overs.

He struck three maximums and two boundaries in the first 10 overs. Marsh stitched a 55-run partnership with Josh Philippe for the third wicket. Renshaw looked a bit nervous at the start, but he hit a couple of boundaries, and captain Marsh remained unbeaten on 46 runs as the hosts chased down the target with 29 balls remaining.

The Men in Blue will look to level the series at the Adelaide Oval when they face Australia on October 23. The team management will once again rely heavily on their top 3 to give them a solid start.

Kohli has a brilliant record across formats at this venue, scoring 975 runs in 12 matches (Tests, ODIs, T20Is) at an average of 65. He smashed five hundreds and has a highest score of 141. He has amassed 244 runs in four ODI matches at a stunning average of 61, including two centuries.

On the other hand, Rohit has scored just 131 runs at an average of 21.83, with a highest score of 44. Despite this record, the former India skipper will look to use his experience and make a strong comeback in the second ODI.
