India's ODI and Test skipper Shubman Gill and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav endured forgettable outings in the sixth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, getting out cheaply in their team's respective fixtures on Tuesday. Playing their first match in the ongoing edition of the 50-over domestic competition, Gill and SKY both flattered to deceive with a pair of low scores.

Gill, who was slated to play against Sikkim on Saturday but was ruled out due to illness, was dismissed for 11 off 12 balls in Punjab's match against Goa in Jaipur. Coming off two back-to-back injuries, Gill's return to domestic cricket ended on a disappointing note.

Gill was dismissed by right-arm seamer V. Koushik, who had also dismissed Gill's opening partner, Prabhsimran Singh, for 2 in the third over of Punjab's 212-run chase.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar's batting woes continued in domestic cricket too. The India T20I skipper, who has been struggling for runs in international cricket, showed signs of coming back to form against Himachal Pradesh, but his innings was cut short at 24. His Mumbai and India teammates, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube, also fell cheaply for 15 and 20, respectively.

Though Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer, playing his first competitive match since recovering from a serious spleen injury, shone brightly with a blistering 82-run knock. Musheer Khan, younger brother of Sarfaraz, played superbly for a 51-ball 73

Elsewhere, Priyansh Arya's 80 off 41 balls, Rishabh Pant's 24 off 9 balls and Nitish Rana's 38 off 28 balls helped Delhi beat Railways by six wickets.

Kerala found a new hero in Vishnu Vinod, who struck an unbeaten 162 against Pondicherry to help his team register a resounding eight-wicket win. Baba Aparajith scored an unbeaten 63 while Sanju Samson disappointed with a low score of 11.
