Harry Kane nets 400th career club goal as Bayern beat Dortmund in Der Klassiker

New Delhi: Harry Kane netted his 400th career club goal as Bayern Munich handed Borussia Dortmund their first Bundesliga defeat of the season by winning Der Klassiker 2-1 on Saturday.

Kane scored the opening goal of the match in the 22nd minute with a header from Joshua Kimmich's corner. It was his 22nd goal for club and country this season, extending his scoring streak in the Bundesliga to five matches.

Kane now has 104 goals in 107 games for Bayern Munich since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2023 summer window. Kane scored 280 goals for Spurs, while his other club goals came during early loan spells at Millwall (9), Leyton Orient (5) and Leicester City (2).

The striker also has 76 goals for England, after scoring a brace against Latvia on Tuesday as the Three Lions secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

The hosts started the game brilliantly and put pressure on Dortmund. They got the deserved lead in the 22nd minute, when Harry Kane scored his 12th league goal through a header from Kimmich's corner.

Dortmund struggled in the first half but tried to make a comeback after the break, going close through Felix Nmecha before Karim Adeyemi fired over the bar from close range in the 67th minute.

Kane then threaded a stunning 60-metre pass for Luis Diaz, who cut into the opposition's box, and Olise scored the second goal of the match in the 79th minute. Five minutes later, Julian Brandt netted a goal for Dortmund through a tap-in and piled pressure on the hosts. Despite some late drama, Bayern Munich secured three points at home.

After the match, Harry Kane said that it was a good performance from the team, as the first game after the international break is never easy. After the win, Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga table with 21 points, five ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig. Dortmund, who lost their first game in 10 matches across all competitions, dropped to fourth on 14 points.
