Indias ODI captain Rohit Sharma set to report in BCCIs CoE for fitness tests on September 13
India's ODI skipper, Rohit Sharma, is set to undergo fitness tests at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He'll also practice in the facility to prepare for the three-match ODI series against Australia.
New Delhi: India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma is set to report in the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for fitness tests, reports Times of India. In a major development, the Mumbai batter will undergo the Yo-Yo test and the newly introduced Bronco test at the CoE.
A source told TOI that Rohit will be at the BCCI's CoE from September 13 for fitness tests and will be there for three days. He further added that the ODI skipper will also practice at the facility to prepare for the upcoming 50-over series against Australia in September.
"With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility,” a source said as quoted by TOI.
Rohit, Virat to play in ODI series against Australia A?
According to the same report, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may return to action during India A's three-match ODI series against Australia A, which is scheduled to be played at the Green Park Stadium on September 30, October 3 and 5.
The series will help both legendary cricketers to prepare for the upcoming three ODI matches against Australia, which is set to begin in Perth from October 19.
According to a few media reports, Rohit and Virat could be asked to play in the 2025 Vijay Hazare Trophy to keep their hopes alive for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket, whereas Kohli represents Delhi, and they might play in the 50-over domestic competition.
In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Kohli was the leading run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 765 runs in 11 innings, while Rohit was second on that list, scoring 597 runs in as many outings. Kohli has started the preparations for the ODI series against Australia in London, while Rohit has been training at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC facility.
