Man United agree £21.65m deal with Real Betis to sell out-of-favour winger Antony
Manchester United winger Antony is set to have a medical and complete the move to Spanish club Real Betis on deadline day.
Antony's move from Manchester United to Real Betis looks a done deal after the clubs agreed a 25 million euros (£21.65m) deal for the Brazil winger. The agreement between the two clubs got back on track two days after falling apart when Betis issued a statement that said they were withdrawing their offer.
The deal, which was set to be completed on Friday, broke down because Antony wanted part of his United contract to be paid off.
Both clubs worked over the weekend to break the impasse, and according to United sources, a breakthrough was reached. Antony is now clear to have a medical and complete the move on the deadline day.
Antony's time at Man United set to end
According to a report in the BBC, the deal is expected to be worth around 22 million euros (£19.06 million) with 3 million euros of add-ons (£2.59 million). The deal also includes a 50 per cent net sell-on clause and zero pay-off to the player.
United are selling Antony for a huge loss after buying the Brazilian for £81.3m from Ajax in 2022. Across two seasons, Antony made 62 Premier League appearances, scoring just five goals and providing three assists.
The 25-year-old footballer joined Betis on loan in January and found the net nine times in 26 league and cup appearances. Meanwhile, amidst all the exits, Kobbie Mainoo is expected to stay at United.
The 20-year-old England midfielder wanted a loan move after seeing his appearances limited, but his appeals were rejected.
Mainoo, who has lost his place in Thomas Tuchel's latest Three Lions squad, came in as a substitute in United's 3-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund is set to join Napoli on a season-long loan, which includes an obligation to buy. United will receive a €6 million (£5.2m) loan fee for Hojlund and €44m (£38m) next summer if the buy clause is triggered. Academy product Alejandro Garnacho has also left Old Trafford for a £40m deal to join Chelsea.
