Manchester Uniteds manager Ruben Amorim wins October manager of month award

New Delhi: Ruben Amorim has been named Premier League manager of the month for October, marking the first time he has received the accolade after becoming Untied manager. The recognition came after a string of impressive performances that helped Red Devils ease the pressure following a slow start to the season.

Amorim took over the charge at Old Trafford in November 2024 as he guided Red Devils to three crucial top-flight wins during October. The campaign began with a win over Sunderland, followed by a memorable 2-1 victory at Liverpool marking United’s first at Anfield since January 2016 and a commanding 4-2 triumph against Brighton. These results helped steady the ship, giving fans hope about the team’s prospects this season.

Despite the personal recognition, Amorim was quick to credit his squad for their performances. "The credit is not mine, the credit is for my players,” he said. "They did really well, and our goal is to win the next one [award], because it means we win football matches, and that is our goal.”

This also marked the first time a Manchester United manager has won the award since Erik ten Hag claimed it in November 2023. Amorim’s calm and measured approach has been evident throughout the month with the focus firmly on team cohesion and results rather than individual accolades.

United drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in their most recent match which left them eighth in the Premier League table. While consistency remains a priority, Amorim’s October form showed that the team can compete with the league’s top sides under his guidance.

Forward Bryan Mbeumo also earned recognition, winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for October. The striker contributed three goals and one assist across the three victories playing a pivotal role in United’s strong run of form.

As United continue their resurgence under Amorim, they will next play Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. The Portuguese manager will ensure the October success is just the beginning of what could be a defining season for the club.
