New Delhi: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced Friday that agents had foiled a potential terrorist attack in Michigan, arresting multiple suspects accused of plotting a violent act over the Halloween weekend.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Patel said the arrests were made earlier in the day and credited both federal and local law enforcement agencies for their swift and coordinated response. He praised their efforts, noting that their vigilance helped prevent what could have been a major act of violence.
“This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend. More details to come,” Patel wrote. “Thanks to the men and women of the FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and fulfilling our mission to defend the homeland.”
While Patel did not share further details about the suspects or the specifics of the alleged plot, the FBI’s Detroit Field Office confirmed that agents were active Friday morning in the cities of Dearborn and Inkster.
In a brief statement, an FBI spokesperson said, “Members of the FBI in Michigan were present in Dearborn and Inkster this morning conducting law enforcement activities. There is no current threat to public safety.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the alleged plot or whether the suspects are connected to any known extremist organizations. Additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
