New Delhi: Following the brewing tensions between India and Pakistan after the Operation Sindoor, the two nations would finally be facing each other at the multinational exercise ZAPAD, which would take place in Russia. Nearly 20 countries will participate in the multinational exercise, which is scheduled from 1 September to 17 September.
A 70-member team from India would be leaving for Russia on Monday. Following the invitation from Russia, the Indian Army would participate in the ZAPAD exercise.
India and Russia share a long journey of maintaining trade, strategic and diplomatic relations with each other. India continued to try to maintain cordial relations with the country even when it was involved in a conflict with Ukraine.
Sources say that the countries involved in the exercise are usually divided into different groups. China and Pakistan remain in one group, while India is kept in a separate group.
After ZAPAD, the armies of India and Russia will conduct another major exercise. In October, the Indra-2025 exercise will be held in India. It started in 2003 with only the Navy, but now the Army and Air Force are also included in it.
The main strategy of Indra is to work on anti-terrorism operations, maritime security, disaster management and joint strategy. In recent years, modern aspects like drones, cyber security and electronic warfare have also been added to it.
India's military preparations can be gauged from the fact that major exercises are going on with Russia as well as America.
The India and US Yudh Abhyas is a joint exercise, which would take place between 1 and 14 September at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Battalions of India's Madras Regiment and Brigade Combat Team of US 11th Airborne Division are participating in it.
For the first time, all three wings of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy have participated in the Bright Star exercise in Egypt, which started from 28 August and would continue till 10 September. 700 soldiers are participating in the 19th edition. It is jointly organized by the Central Command of Egypt and the US.
India has been currently participating in military exercises with strategic partners like Russia, America and Egypt. It is clear from this that the Indian Army is not only increasing strategic cooperation but is also continuously strengthening its presence and strength on multinational forums.
