‘Imran Khan alive, under pressure’: Pakistani lawmaker refutes ex-PM ‘s death rumours

The remarks by PTI lawmaker Khurram Zeeshan came even as Imran Khan's son Kasim and other family members have demanded proof that the former Pakistan PM is alive.

Islamabad: Amid rumours about the death of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, a lawmaker from his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that the cricketer-turned politician is alive in Adiala jail. He, however, claimed that the former prime minister is under pressure to leave the country.

The remarks by PTI lawmaker Khurram Zeeshan came even as Imran Khan’s son Kasim  and other family members have demanded proof that the former Pakistan PM is alive. The demand of the family came amid speculations that Imran Khan either died in jail or has been killed. The rumours further increased after Imran Khan’s sisters were denied a meeting with him despite the order of the court.

"My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in a death cell with zero transparency. His sisters have been denied every visit, even with clear court orders allowing access. There have been no phone calls, no meetings and no proof of life. Me My brother and have had no contact with our father," Kasim wrote on X.

Zeeshan, while speaking to news agency ANI, claimed that Imran Khan continued to remain in Adiala jail. He further said that the PTI chief has been kept in isolation to pressure on him to leave Pakistan.

"It is very unfortunate. It's been almost a month of his isolation, and his family, his lawyers, and even the senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have not been allowed to meet him. This is a complete violation of human rights. It seems they are trying to force him into something," he told ANI.

‘They are striking a deal with Imran Khan’

He added, “They are trying to strike a deal with Imran Khan, asking him to leave the country. They even promise him concessions if he goes abroad and stays silent at a place of his choice. But Imran Khan will never agree to it. The kind of leader he is, he will never approve it.”
