New Delhi: Some new documents in the probe of Jeffrey Epstein, the late American financier and convicted child sex offender, have surfaced which have brought more trouble for US President Donald Trump.

The documents allegedly reveal more about his association with Epstein, triggering a fresh political storm in the country. The US Department of Justice released files containing tens of thousands of pages, warning that they may include "untrue and sensationalist” claims.

What do those documents reveal?

Trump and Epstein’s private jet

According to an email from January 2020 sent by a Manhattan federal prosecutor, Trump travelled on Epstein’s private jet at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, more than what many knew previously. The number has even reportedly taken investigators by surprise.

Co-passengers on those flights

The email states that on at least four flights, Epstein’s close associate and convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell was the co-passenger. In 1993, Epstein, Trump, and a 20-year-old woman were present on the flight.

Trump’s past denials come under scrutiny

While Trump has publicly denied in the past having been on Epstein’s plane, the newly released flight logs contradict his statements. They allegedly show that Trump repeatedly travelled on the plane and even took his then-wife, Marla Maples, and his children on some trips.

A controversial handwritten letter

The disclosures allegedly include a controversial handwritten letter that Epstein wrote to fellow sex offender and former Team USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar. The letter was reportedly written in August 2019 and said that Epstein and 'President', which was Trump at that time, shared the same views about 'young girls'. It is important to note that the Department of Justice has called the documents unverified. However, the revelations have led to a renewed scrutiny of the alleged relationship shared by Trump and Epstein and have led to a new political row in the US.
