Van Gogh, a rescue dog in the United States, gained viral fame for his unique artistic talent — painting with his tongue. Like his namesake, the famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, this adorable dog has just one ear. But that hasn’t stopped him from making a splash in the art world with his colourful, tongue-created “paw-traits.”
Van Gogh lives at the Happily Furever After Rescue centre, where he gets a helping hand from founder Jaclyn Gartner. She puts blobs of paint on a canvas, slips it inside a plastic bag and then coats the outside with peanut butter — Van Gogh’s favourite treat.
Jaclyn told the Washington Examiner, “His painting is him licking peanut butter off. And while he's licking the peanut butter, all the paints is smeared around and makes the design.”
The result? Vibrant, abstract works of art. They were all sold out immediately, with more requests pouring in.
When he’s not painting, Van Gogh enjoys cuddles, belly rubs and calm walks around the neighbourhood. He also loves car rides and being close to people, showing off his gentle and loving nature.
Jaclyn’s innovative way of combining creativity and adoption awareness has touched many online. Van Gogh may not have a traditional brushstroke, but his work — and his heart — have captured attention far and wide.
