New Delhi: Following the anti-corruption protest in Nepal, a video clip emerged wherein Nepali Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel was seen running for his life. In the video, a huge crowd is seen approaching to thrash the minister.
The viral video captures Paudel(65), running through the streets of Kathmandu. One of the demonstrators kicked the minister. Then thrashed him to a red wall. Wasting no time, the Paudel starts running again, and the video ends.
What led to protest?
This comes amid the agitations on Monday, spearheaded by people, who are labelled as the GenZs of the nation. The protests emerged with a demand to lift government ban on social media and tackle corruption. Soon, the protest took a deadly turn, killing at least 19 people and injuring several others.
Although the ban was reversed on Monday night only, the protests continued today too, and protesters set houses of ministers and government buildings on fire. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Foreign Minister Arju Rana also suffered injuries.
How long will it continue?
At the early hours of the day, Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also tendered his resignation. Youth protestors attacked him and set his house on fire.
