Send your wife, kids back to India: US Vice President Vance faces heat over immigration comments
Recently, Vance said in an interview on a New York Post podcast that it was "totally reasonable and acceptable" for Americans to want to have neighbours of the same race, language, or skin colour.
New Delhi: The United States has witnessed a raging row in recent times over the immigration issue. Now, US Vice President JD Vance has been put under the pump after he claimed that mass migration results in the "theft of the American Dream."
The American VP has reportedly said that massive immigration undermines Americans' job opportunities. When he was reminded of the research that contradicts his view, Vance dismissed it and called it as being funded by "people getting rich off the old system."
Vance faces backlash
Vance has faced immense backlash for his comments, with some mocking him over his wife Usha's Indian heritage. Usha's parents were Indian immigrants, and some critics suggested' Vance that, as per his logic, he should "send her back". Author and commentator Wajahat Ali has remarked, "That means you have to send Usha, her Indian family, and your biracial kids back to India."
Recently, Vance said in an interview on a New York Post podcast that it was "totally reasonable and acceptable" for Americans to want to have neighbours of the same race, language, or skin colour. Also, he blamed the US government of former President Biden for allegedly formulating an immigration system that, in his opinion, 'promoted division.' He said about undocumented migrants, "We’re trying to remove as many as we possibly can."
Vance recently drew backlash for saying that he hopes his Indian-origin, Hindu-raised wife would convert to Christianity one day. He also said that she goes to church with him and their children as they are being raised as Christians. He later backtracked and clarified that she is not a Christian and has no plans to convert.
