Nine killed, 10 injured in mass shooting in South Africas Johannesburg

New Delhi: At least nine people were killed and several others injured in a mass shooting in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday.
According to South African Broadcasting Corporation News, the shooting took place in Bekkersdal, a gold-mining area about 40 kilometres southwest of the city. Reports said around a dozen men attacked a tavern shortly before 1 am local time.
Unknown suspects attack patrons inside tavern
Police said the attackers arrived in two vehicles and opened fire on patrons inside the tavern, continuing to shoot randomly as they fled the scene.
Authorities initially put the death toll at 10 but later revised it to nine. The victims included a driver from an online ride-hailing service who was outside the bar at the time, provincial police commissioner Fred Kekana told SABC Television.
Several injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals, while an investigation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects.
