Washington: The protests against the regime change in Iran continue to surge across the country and refuse to stop. As per the government, close to 2,000 people have lost their lives across the country so far. The government has blamed ‘terrorists’ behind the protests.
In the meantime, some personnel have been asked to leave the US military's Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, amidst a US threat that it could intervene to protect protesters in Iran, Reuters reported.
Speaking to the agency, an official added, “It's a posture change and not an ordered evacuation.” The official said that he was not aware of any particular reason given for the posture change.
On Tuesday, speaking to CBS News, Trump vowed tough action against Iran if protesters are executed, “If they hang them, you're going to see some things," he said. He had also urged Iranians to keep protesting and take over institutions, adding that "help is on the way. According to Iran’s state media, top officials in the country have approached Qatar UAE, and Turkey regarding the issue.
Earlier, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khameini, even though said his government was ready to talk with protesters, but accused the United States (US) and Israel of fuelling protests in his country.
On Wednesday. Iran threatened the countries supporting the US, saying it would retaliate in American bases if Washington continued with its threats. "Tehran has told regional countries, from Saudi Arabia and UAE to Turkey, that US bases in those countries will be attacked if the US targets Iran... asking these countries to prevent Washington from attacking Iran," the official told Reuters.
The families of Kashmiri students studying in Iran are worried about the developing situation there, and the recent order to leave the country has only intensified their concerns. A group of such families in Srinagar told TV9 that the situation in Iran is not good and that their children, who are studying there, need to be brought back home.
According to these families, the internet is not working properly, making it difficult for them to send money to their children. The families are appealing to the central government and the Ministry of External Affairs to safely bring their children back to India from Iran.
