5 Useless Features In Cars That Are Annoying
Manufacturers are loading up their new cars with a lot of gimmicky features. Here are 5 useless features in modern cars that are annoying.
Manufacturers have started adding more and more features to cars. This is because they want to be ahead of the competition on paper, but this has led to manufacturers putting a lot of useless features in their cars as well.
With cars being loaded with more and more tech, the addition of useless gimmicks are prevailing over practical features, which is a matter of concern. Here are 5 useless features in cars that are extremely annoying.
Whoever had the idea to implement touch-sensitive controls in cars has saved manufacturers a lot of money because they now don’t have to invest in making individual buttons. They are never accurate and are especially hard to use while driving. They are mostly flush with the panel and tough to differentiate from one another. The touch-sensitive controls are hard to use, and many manufacturers have even admitted that they are worse in terms of usability.
With screens becoming larger and larger, manufacturers have been cramming all sorts of controls into the screen of the vehicle. This has made one-step processes into a multi-step process, which is not only unintuitive to use but also highly dangerous while trying to get to a function while driving. It started with audio controls, but has now extended to vital components like HVAC controls, which are put inside screens, and then there are some manufacturers who are also trying to put light controls into the screen.
Having powered seats is a great feature, but we believe that all functions should be powered if the seats are powered. Having two controls, which are powered, and then you have to adjust one of the functionalities with a manual function, beats the purpose of having powered seats, in our opinion. Also, having powered seats without memory makes quite little sense in what is actually a practical use case of powered seats.
They never work, and while manufacturers have perfected this system over the years, there is no one way to do it. Anytime we get to see a powered tailgate, we have to embarrass ourselves by waving our feet below the bumper of the vehicle or just standing there with stuff in our hands.
Auto Start/Stop systems are meant to help us save fuel, but eventually, everyone ends up switching them off because most implementations of these systems are not smooth. It also turns on every time you start the vehicle. It is annoying to the point that it has become muscle memory for some to switch it off the moment they start the vehicle.
