Hyundai Genesis luxury brand set to launch in India, eyes Mercedes & BMW buyers
Hyundai Motor India is bringing its luxury brand Genesis to the country, aiming to challenge premium rivals like BMW and Mercedes. Alongside, it will launch 26 new vehicles by FY2030 including ICE, EV, and hybrid models. The new Talegaon plant will support this growth push.
New Delhi: In May 2025, Hyundai Motor India came up with a plan to launch 26 new vehicles in the country by FY2030. The upcoming line-up is set to be geared up with 20 conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) models, six battery-electric vehicles (EVs), and some hybrid models. The company has now confirmed that they are actively considering the launch of their luxury brand, Genesis, to the Indian market.
Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, Tarun Garg says that the company is planning the launch of Genesis to come up with a new definition of luxury, combining innovation, cutting-edge design, and a unique ownership experience. He also says that the move is aimed at fulfilling the growing hope of Indian consumers who are seeking for more premium and luxury cars.This strategic step reflects Hyundai’s intent to enhance its brand image in India by entering the luxury segment and delivering a refined, high-end automotive experience.
Genesis Hyundai’s premium division
Genesis is a premium division which makes luxury cars which serves a role for the Korean automaker just like Ford has its Lincoln SUV. Genesis came up with the goal to offer high end vehicles that provide futuristic design, advanced features and upraised performance. Launched as a standalone brand in 2015, Genesis has rapidly earned global recognition for producing vehicles that compete with established luxury giants. While focusing on comfort, safety, and distinctive styling. The Genesis comes along with sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles, including flagship models such as the G70, G80, GV60, GV70, and GV80.
As Hyundai geared up itself for the rising demand for premium automobiles in India, Genesis is now preparing to make its debut in the country, a move that could shake up the current landscape dominated by luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.
New Vehicles for Hyundai by FY 2030
According to Hyundai Motors India they are planning to introduce 26 new vehicles with 20 Internal Combustion Engine ICE, Six EV Electric Vehicles and includes Hybrid models also. Hyundai’s long-term growth strategy lies in its upcoming Talegaon manufacturing facility, which is set to commence operations in FY2025 26. This new plant is expected to play an important role in expanding the production capacity for both ICE vehicles and the EV segment.
These updates come with notable additions such as a dual-cylinder CNG variant for the EXTER, a sunroof in lower trims of the VENUE, and a new entry-level eCNG model for the AURA. The ALCAZAR also received a mid-cycle facelift, further strengthening Hyundai’s presence in the SUV segment.
