Topgolf’s Arthur Starrs to step-in as new CEO of Harley-Davidson
Arthur Starrs will take charge of the company from October 1st. Harley-Davidson previously had confirmed that their current CEO, Jochen Zeitz was going to step down soon.
New Delhi: Harley-Davidson have named Arthur Starrs as their next CEO on Monday, taking charge from October 1st. This ends a long process of searching for the right candidate to succeed the current CEO, Jochen Zeitz. Starrs is currently serving as the CEO of Topgolf International, who are a sports entertainment company and a unit of Topgolf Callaway Brands.
Before Topgolf, Starrs was also CEO of Pizza Hut, which is a global restaurant chain and division of Yum! Brands.
Back in April, Harley had announced that their current CEO, Zeitz, was planning to step down from the role following a five-year tenure at the helm. His time saw him make efforts to revive the American motorcycle brand that was struggling with demand.
Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903 and as an American classic bike, has enjoyed a cult status amongst both bike enthusiasts and pop culture followers. It has been a heavy feature of classic Hollywood movies. While originally it was known for having heavyweight, air-cooled cruiser motorcycles with more than 700 cc engines, it has broadened its portfolio to serve every segment of the market.
The most famous thing from Harley-Davidson is the chopper motorcycle style. It employed modified steering angle stretched-out forks to make it appear elongated. Over the years, the average age of Harley owners has gone from being youngsters to a much older generation.
In India, Harley-Davidson, in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, produces the X440 after its launch in July 2023 and is the cheapest Harley-Davidson available in the country.
