Bengaluru: The new Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express started operations on Tuesday, November 11. This train is a major step in improving connectivity between the two cities. The semi-high-speed indigenous train will cut travel time to about 8 hours and 40 minutes and link major business, technology, and education hubs across Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
The fare for a Chair Car seat is Rs 1,095, while the Executive Class ticket is priced at Rs 2,289. These fares do not include reservation charges, catering fees, or GST. Passengers choosing onboard meal service will need to pay extra for food during the trip.
The train will run six days a week, with Wednesday as a maintenance day. Train No. 26651 will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 5:10 am and reach Ernakulam at 1:50 pm. The return train, No. 26652, will leave Ernakulam at 2:20 pm and arrive in Bengaluru at 11:00 pm.
The train will stop at important stations including Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem. It is expected that professionals, students, and tourists will frequently use this train. This is the third Vande Bharat service from Kerala, further boosting regional rail connectivity.
The Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat is equipped with automatic doors, onboard Wi-Fi, and improved seating. Officials said the service will not only save travel time but also help strengthen economic links between major cities in Southern India.
The service was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said the new route would strengthen trade and tourism between the southern states. Soon after bookings opened, tickets sold out within hours, according to the IRCTC portal. For the next several days, all seats on Train No. 26652 (Ernakulam-Bengaluru) are fully booked. The Executive Chair Car (EC) section of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat has been waitlisted for almost 10 days now.
