Heightened alert after devastating blast near Delhi's Red Fort

The warning comes in the immediate aftermath of a devastating blast near the Red Fort Metro station on November 10, where a slow-moving car exploded near Gate Number 1. Thirteen people were killed and several more were injured, leading to intensified security measures nationwide. Searches have been stepped up and random checks on vehicles continue in major cities.

Series of bomb threat to Delhi bond flights

Meanwhile, on November 12, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi was briefly on alert after receiving a bomb threat that later turned out to be false. A Delhi Fire Services official said that three fire tenders rushed to Terminal 3 at around 3.18 PM following a call about a suspected explosive device. “After a thorough investigation and checking, it was confirmed that the threat was a hoax," he said.

Another scare followed on November 13, when a bomb threat message was received for Air India flight AI188 travelling from Toronto to Delhi. The Boeing 777 was still more than four hours from landing when the alert was flagged to authorities at around 11.30 AM. The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee at Delhi airport convened immediately and assessed the threat as “non-specific", according to sources quoted by PTI. The aircraft landed safely without incident.

Later, an Air India spokesperson confirmed that a security alert had been communicated for AI188 during the flight’s cruise phase.

The latest threat to BMRCL has reinforced concerns over a growing pattern of intimidation through anonymous messages.
