The government has also clarified additional conditions for the 2026 holiday schedule. If any of the above dates coincide with existing public holidays — such as Maha Shivaratri on February 15, Holi on March 25, Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1, or Naraka Chaturdashi on November 8 — no separate holiday will be declared. Likewise, if a holiday falls on a Sunday, no compensatory holiday will be offered. For government offices following the five-day work week, holidays landing on Saturdays will not be compensated either.
The notification further states that the Karnataka Bank Holiday List 2026 will be released separately by the Department of Finance. The bank holiday calendar will apply to all scheduled, cooperative, and regional rural banks operating in the state.
Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been authorised to declare additional local holidays for regional festivals, fairs and cultural events specific to their areas. These district-level holidays will not apply statewide, meaning regions such as Mysuru, Udupi, Hubballi, and Belagavi may observe extra breaks in line with local customs, traditions, and jatras.
The comprehensive list aims to help government employees, institutions and the public plan ahead for the year 2026.
