Red Fort blast: Delhi Airport asks flyers to arrive early as security checks heightened

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which manages the operations at the airport, took to X and said, "Due to prevailing security situation in Delhi, security measures at Delhi Airport have been strengthened and the security screening process may take longer than usual." Due to security reasons, the Lal Quila Metro Station will also remain closed on November 12.

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi has asked all flyers to plan their journey well in advance and reach the airport with extra time in hand as security checks have been heightened at the airport in view of the major blast near Red Fort metro station on Monday evening.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which manages the operations at the airport, took to X and said, “Due to prevailing security situation in Delhi, security measures at Delhi Airport have been strengthened and the security screening process may take longer than usual.”

The DIAL added, “We advise all passengers to plan their journey accordingly and arrive at the airport well in advance to avoid any last-minute hassle. Rest assured, all our teams and stakeholders are working in close coordination with security agencies to minimise inconvenience and ensure a safe and smooth travel experience for everyone.”

Red Fort Metro station closed today

Following the major blast outside Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, the key metro station in Old Delhi remained closed on Tuesday, November 11. The blast has claimed 13 lives so far. The Lal Quila Metro Station will also remain closed on Wednesday, November 12, announced the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Taking to X, the DMRC said, “Service Update: Due to security reasons the Lal Quila Metro Station shall continue to remain closed on 12th of November also. All other stations are functional as normal. Please follow our social media channels for further updates.”

The metro station has been closed due to heightened security in place. This has disrupted travel for several commuters who rely for commute on Violet Line of Delhi Metro daily.
