1.5 lakh Ganesh idols immersed in Hyderabad; 10,500 metric tonnes of trash cleared

About 10,500 metric tonnes of trash has been cleared during the festival period to be sent to processing units, GHMC said.

Over 1.5 lakh Ganesh idols have already been immersed in Hyderabad by Friday, September 5, under strict safety and environmental guidelines.

About 10,500 metric tonnes of trash has been cleared during the festival period to be sent to processing units, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said. They also said that 72 artificial ponds and nine major lakes have been prepared for immersion.

Hussain Sagar equipped with 40 cranes:

About 134 static and 269 mobile cranes have been deployed across all immersion sites. The most famous one, Hussain Sagar is equipped with 40 cranes, including 11 heavy-duty ones, to expedite the immersion process.

Procession route roads repaired:

About 303.3 km of the main procession route has been repaired fully to ensure smooth vehicular movement. 160 Ganesh action teams have been deployed for real time monitoring and crowd regulation.

Over 14,400 sanitation workers have been deployed citywide and 309 mobile toilets, 125 JCBs have been arranged at immersion spots and 5 lakh trash bags have been handed out.

Seven medical camps and ambulances have been stationed at the immersion sites while rest facilities have been arranged for sanitation workers and crane operators.

GHMC has collaborated with govt departments including Hydraa, HMDA, Hyderabad Police and the tourism department for smooth, seamless process. Officials said that the success in 2025 is a result of balancing tradition with civic discipline and ensuring that big scale festivals can be safe while following environmental guidelines.
