Cold wave grips Hyderabad as city records lowest temperature of the season

University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally has recorded the lowest temperature of the season so far in the city, at 6.3°C.

Cold wave has gripped Hyderabad as temperatures continue to plummet in parts of the city. University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally has recorded the lowest temperature of the season so far, with 6.3°C, followed by Moula Ali (7.1°C), Rajendranagar (7.7°C), Sivarampalle (8.8°C). Alwal, Gachibowli also recorded about 9°C, as per Telangana Development Planning Society data.

Minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 3°C to 4°C over the next 2 days, IMD Hyderabad said. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30°C to 12°C respectively. Surface winds are likely to be northerlies/north-easterlies with wind speed of about 4-6 kmph.

Meanwhile, a strong cold wave was also seen in several districts of Telangana including in Kohir, Sangareddy, which recorded 5.8°C followed by Rangareddy, which has recorded 6°C. Komarambheem Asifabad recorded 6.5°C followed by Vikarabad, Medchal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Siddipet, Medak districts. 

As per the weather department, cold wave conditions will very likely prevail in some places in Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy districts till December 14.
