Hyderabad: 18 members from one family die in Saudi bus accident

Hyderabad: Eighteen members of the same family from Vidyanagar, Hyderabad died in the horrific road accident in Saudi Arabia in the early hours of Monday.

Naziruddin, a retired railways employee, had gone on a  pilgrimage to Mecca with his family members. All eighteen of them perished in the accident, reports said.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy spoke to Naziruddin’s family members over the phone and assured that the Central government will stand by the families of the deceased.

Upon being asked, Naziruddin’s family members said that are keen on carrying out the funeral in Saudi Arabia. Kishan Reddy said that arrangements will be made to send the family members to Mecca on Tuesday morning. 

Bus collides with diesel tanker:

45 people lost their lives in a road accident that occurred in Saudi. All of them were residents of Hyderabad, Telangana Haj Committee said in a statement. Among the deceased were 17 men, 18 women and 10 children.

They left Hyderabad for Umrah on November 9 through three travel agencies. After successfully completing the pilgrimage to Mecca, they were on their way to Medina, when a road accident occurred. The bus and diesel tanker collided 25 km from Medina.

Telangana announces ex-gratia:

Telangana government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died in the bus accident. 

The cabinet has decided to form a government delegation comprising of Minister of Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin, an MIM MLA and an officer from the minority wing to send them to Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, it has been decided to cremate the bodies in Saudi according to religious traditions and to take two members from each of the affected families for this purpose.
