New Delhi: Hyderabad is all set for the three‑day International Kite and Sweet Festival at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, with authorities announcing significant traffic restrictions to manage the expected surge in vehicles and crowds. The event is scheduled from January 13 to 15.

The three day festival has prompted the Malkajgiri Traffic Police to issue an advisory urging commuters to plan their travel carefully and avoid roads around the festival venue where possible to ensure smooth movement.

Reasonable restrictions imposed

As per the advisory, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place on a need basis between 10 am and 10 pm each day of the festival. Portions of key stretches, including the area between CTO X Road, Plaza X Roads, and Tivoli X Roads, may be intermittently closed depending on traffic density.

Authorities have flagged several junctions where heavy congestion is likely, such as the CTO and Plaza junctions, Tivoli and Picket junctions, and areas around Secunderabad Club, Sweekar Upkar, YMCA, and SBI junctions, among others.

Commuters travelling to major transit hubs like Secunderabad Railway Station and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) have been advised to start their journeys early to avoid delays. To ease movement, the traffic police have recommended the use of Metro services as an efficient alternative during peak hours.

Police advise cooperation as shuttle and parking facilities open

Parking arrangements have been organised at multiple nearby locations to accommodate visitors. These include the Gymkhana Exhibition Ground, Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Sports Authority of Telangana State premises, and Dhobighat with a shuttle service provided from Dhobighat to Parade Grounds East Gate No. 11.

For those using ride‑hailing services like Ola, Uber, and Rapido, designated pick‑up and drop‑off points have been set up near Paradise Metro Station, Tivoli Junction, SBI Junction, and Sweekar Upkar Junction. Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with officers on duty, adhere to the diversions, and monitor real‑time traffic updates for a hassle‑free experience during the festival days.
