Hyderabad: Eight-year-old boy dies after being runover by a truck

Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy was killed after a tipper lorry ran over him in Mailardevpally area of the city, tv9 telugu reported.

The boy Syed Riyan, son of Zubairuddin, was a resident of Shastripuram and studied in class-2 at a local private school. The fatal accident occurred when he was on his way to the playground.

With his mother’s permission, Riyan left home in the evening to play cricket at the nearby park. He was hit by a tipper truck when he was walking on the left side of the road. The driver was reportedly driving in a rash and negligent manner. The boy died on the spot.

According to the police, the boy came under the rear tyre of the heavy vehicle and suffered severe head injuries and body injuries. Locals tried to help the boy but the boy succumbed to his injuries before any medical help could reach him.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Mailadevpally police have registered a case against the driver under various sections related to rash and negligent driving. Police have seized the vehicle and an investigation is underway.

Residents of the area expressed outrage over the incident and demanded stricter road safety in residential areas. They asked officials to install CCTV cameras and speed breakers near parks and schools to prevent such fatal accidents.
