Hyderabad: A 50-year-old woman was murdered in her home at a gated apartment in Kukatpally area by the cook and his friend, tv9 telugu reported.

She was reportedly tied up, stabbed and was robbed of cash and gold at the Swan Lake apartment, Kukatpally, Hyderabad on Wednesday evening.

The woman, Renu Agarwal, lived with her husband Rakesh Agarwal and their son Shubham while their daughter Tamanna is studying in another state. The couple own a steel shop in Fateh Nagar, Kukatpally police said.

She was found tied and with fatal injuries over her body and head, after being attacked with a pressure cooker and knives. She was reportedly tortured to reveal the location of money, jewellery in the home and was later tied up, as they looted the house.

The accused Roshan and Harsha, from Jharkhand, have reportedly worked in the same apartment complex for her relatives for nearly a decade. Roshan introduced Harsha as a cook to Renu about 11 days ago, as per reports.

When Rakesh and Shubham returned home on Wednesday evening, they found her lying in a pool of blood with her legs and hands tied in the hall.

After being informed by the residents, Balanagar Police, Kuaktpally Police arrived at the spot with a dog squad and finger print experts.

The main accused in the case are Harsha and Roshan, who are still absconding. CCTV footage showed them leaving Agarwals’ apartment with a suitcase, locking the home and and fleeing on a scooter.

A case has been registered and five teams have been formed to search for the accused.

Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao visited the family of steel trader Rakesh Agarwal on Thursday morning to express his condolences.
