Hyderabad: Woman techie sold drugs with boyfriend, held

The Hyderabad Police have busted a drug racket in Chikkadpally area of the city. They arrested 2 people, including a woman techie who was in the illegal business of drugs. The police have recovered certain high value drugs from the accused, including 22 grams of hydroponic ganja, 5 grams of MDMA, six LSD blots, and ecstasy pills. They also recovered Rs 50,000 in cash and 4 mobiles phones during the raid.

New Delhi: The Hyderabad Police have arrested a woman engineer and her boyfriend for selling drugs. Apart from them, 2 other individuals have also been arrested. The officers seized a significant amount of drugs from their possession, including LSD, cannabis and ecstasy pills, reported NDTV.

The Police said that the woman who has been arrested is just 21 years old. She has been identified as Sushmitha Devi, who also goes by the name Lilly. Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Ummidi Immanuel, is the main accused in the case. Apart from them, the police arrested 2 other men, identified as G Sai Kumar, 28; and Taraka Laxmikanth Ayyappa, 24.

With these arrests, the Hyderabad Police claim to have busted a major drug network. Immanuel, who is Lilly's boyfriend, reportedly works as an event manager and is said to be the kingpin of the entire drug network. The drug racket was busted in Chikkadpally area of Hyderabad.

The racket run by the couple, was busted by a joint team of Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and local police. The drugs seized from the duo included 22 grams of hydroponic ganja, 5 grams of MDMA, six LSD blots, and ecstasy pills. The total value of the drugs in the illegal drug market is Rs 3 lakh, said officials familiar with the matter.

Apart from drugs, the police also seized Rs 50,000 from them and recovered 4 mobile phones from their possession.

Drugs sources from suppliers, smugglers used dark web: Police

The police said that the drugs were sourced from suppliers by Emmanuel. He reportedly used the dark web to contact them and the payment was routed via cryptocurrency wallets such as Binance and Trust Wallet to conceal financial trails. The Tor browser helped him evade detection, said police.

Investigators said that Lilly, who is a software professional, managed the drug trade and took care of finances for the gang. She took care of online transactions and also managed the distribution and procurement of drugs online, in absence of Immanuel.

According to the police, the other 2 accused Sai Kumar and Ayyappa had different roles in the entire network, While Sai Kumar, a local delivery executive helped distribute the drugs locally, Ayyappa is a drug user.

All the 4 accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are now investigating if others were involved in the drug trade and trying to uncover the entire network of the drug racket.
