Hyderabad: IndiGo’s flight cancellations continued on Tuesday with 14 incoming and 44 outbound flights being cancelled, tv9 telugu reported.
Meanwhile, six IndiGo flights from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru and Hyderabad were cancelled.
Alternative arrangements have been made with SpiceJet making 100 additional flights available across the country.
For the convenience of passengers, the railways and Telangana RTC have run alternate services. Special trains are running from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Howrah to Hyderabad. Special buses have been arranged for Chennai, Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam and other places.
Although the number of cancellations have gone down, the crisis has persisted and disruptions in key routes have inconvenienced travellers.
The airline has said in a statement on Monday that Rs 827 crore in refunds has been processed so far and the remaining will be refunded by December 15. Over 1,800 flights operated on Monday, the statement further read.
Centre slashes IndiGo’s winter schedule:
Aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has slashed IndiGo’s winter schedule, reducing the number of flights by 5%, which means a reduction of 115 flights daily.
Earlier, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu had warned of strict action against the airline. On Monday, he told Rajya Sabha that crisis was a result of IndiGo’s ‘internal crisis’ after the FDTA norms came into effect.
The country’s aviation system has been thrown out of gear as the airlines’ outsized impact as a monopoly came to the fore during the crisis.
